SMC
SMC allegedly offers a “turn key” business opportunity by running your own wholesale dropshipping business. You probably remember the “Happy Days” dad, Tom Bosley, promoting this on tv all the time. I saw this thing jillions of times. The only good thing about SMC, in my experience, is the fact that they know how to choose celebrities that appeal to the masses to promote their company.
Basically, they offer certain products at wholesale and you sell them at retail and pocket the profits while they dropship the product for you. Sounds good on paper. They have novelty items, jewelry, figurines, etc. When I contacted them about 5 years ago, they used to promote the flea market style of moving product but since then, they’ve moved to encouraging people to use the internet to move product.
That sounds great on paper also but how many websites are there that sell the same types of products that they sell? Tons. Are theirs any better? Probably not. When I spoke to them about a website, I was more interested in running my own website and possibly using their products but they prohibited that. If I want to use their products, I have to pay the hundreds of dollars they want to run it. No thanks.
Now days, most people searching for their type of product go to places like eBay and get them much cheaper. I also know from personal experience that these guys call and bug you if you don’t sign up and I got repeated mailings (ones that I did not request) after the first initial request so I definitely do not recommend these guys.
