I put this up to mainly set the record straight for any “newbies” that need clarification. Multi-Level Marketing is also referred to as MLM, Network Marketing, and sometimes, referral marketing. Call it what you want, but MLM has created thousands of millionaires and is nothing to shake a stick at.

The problem is that most MLM programs do not properly train or assist their members in functioning for success. ALL MLM programs sell a product/service and attach a recruitment chain to it so not only can you make money from selling the product/service, but you also make money on the recruits that you bring in and get paid on THEIR efforts and therefore, can amass residual incomes.

Either way, this is much harder than it sounds these days. Do NOT confuse MLM with pyramid schemes because they are totally different. Chain letters or passing around a product or gathering as many people to join in under you is an illegal thing where MLM is a totally legitimate method of marketing but some MLM opportunities use shady methods in which they sell and/or recruit their members. So, MLM is legal and legitimate but you need to find the correct program or opportunity and just like all the scams out there, MLM has its own set of scams so beware of those.
